Amulets and talismans fall under the category of charm. They are charged with power to help a person manifest his or her desires.

Amulet comes from nature (e.g. crystals) whereas talisman (e.g. medallion) is man-made. That's the difference between the two.

Talismans can be composed of words, sacred phrase, divine or sacred names, names of spirits, figures, geometric patterns, symbols, sigil, shapes, letters and even numbers. It can be made of metal, parchment paper, wood, stones, rawhide etc... Talismans can be used to ward off and protect the wearer from danger and harm ( physically and spiritually ). It can also be charged to attract good luck, to bring success or something positive to the wearer.  Talismans must be cleansed, charged or empower. Anyone can craft their own talismans as long as they possess knowledge in correspondences and magical properties of certain things or materials ( metal, color, stones, symbols, herbs, planetary energies etc. ) that can be used to craft a talisman.
